Happy Father’s Day
Adult Eastern Bluebird male in Arkansas
Today we celebrate Father’s Day. I was lucky. I had two dads. One I lost when I was a small girl, and one I gained when I was in my early 20s.
I love them both, still, even though they’ve both been gone for a long time.
I chose this image of a male Eastern Bluebird to share today because these bluebirds are good dads. They support the females while they incubate and brood their young, they help raise their chicks, and they look after them until they are strong enough to be on their own.
They are good bird dads. Simple as that.
Happy Father’s Day.
Life is good.

Happy Father’s Day for all those who celebrate – and for all those who should be celebrated.
Thanks for this post, Mia. Great choice on the dad Eastern Bluebird. Touched personally as a dad and having done a bluebird trail in Kennesaw Mt. National Battlfield Park as my Eagle Scout project in the Seventies.
Great shot to celebrate an emotionally charged day for all of us who miss ours.
So nice to learn that Eastern Bluebird males are good dads!—Jeri
Great to know that Bluebirds are good fathers!—Jeri
How wonderful it is to see a father in nature taking care of the babies just like human fathers. These bluebirds are so beautiful I love seeing them flit around.
