Immature Northern Harrier on the wing – Nikon D300, f6.3, 1/2000, ISO 640, +1.3 EV, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 235mm, natural light, not baited
Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans. I was supposed to go shooting this fine morning but that didn’t pan out. Instead I was stuck at home.
We broke another record high for the day but tomorrow is supposed to be colder. It might even snow.
Well, that is what the weather forecasters are saying and they are never wrong, right (just imagine me rolling my eyes)?
So I missed out on seeing the Northern Harriers, Bald Eagles and American Kestrels at Farmington Bay WMA this morning. I decided to post an older image of an immature Northern Harrier on the wing. They are such graceful fliers and I love the warm tones of this young bird against the sky.
Life is good.

Stunning photo! Thank you 🙂
Thanks Jolanta
Very fine image of a beautiful and uncommon hawk. Yes I’m ready for some winter weather, although the first day of winter is still a week away according to the calendar.
Thank you Utahbooklover.
I am looking forward to snow.
Echoing Patty. Beautiful indeed.
Thanks EC!
Mia, here in Colorado, it is the same thing. The past few days have been Springlike. The only cold and snow we have had was when that arctic vortex came.
Some of th4e hawks are slowly getting here, but in my local state park, still no Eagles, and they are usually here By now..and water is open that is normally frozen at this time of year.
WE also seem to have so many more Canada geese and Gulls that have joined our permanent residents
Jeannie
We aren’t seeing the Bald Eagles like we normally do either Jeannie.
Beautiful!!!
Thanks Patty
