I wanted to share these spring views of Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge while it’s still spring. Summer isn’t all that far off now, so today’s the day.

The photos above are all cell phone images. I like the way my Samsung phone handles landscape photos. The images are sharp, colorful, and it feels like I could simply walk right into them.
My first trip to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge was memorable. I hadn’t fully anticipated the geology of the area, even though my dear friend Steve Creek, and his photos of the area, had filled me in on what I’d be seeing.
The granite mountains, oak woodlands and mixed grass prairies don’t seem like something you’d expect to find in Oklahoma. Maybe more in New Mexico, southern Utah, or parts of Colorado.
But this stunning, mountainous, rocky scenery is in Oklahoma.
And there are plenty of beautiful lakes too.

I’m hoping to go back and take more scenic images of Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge when there are fluffy or moody clouds in the sky. I believe clouds can add drama to the already incredible views of this refuge.
Life is good.
