Today I wanted to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there and share a beautiful young Eastern Bluebird photo to honor my own Mom.

My mother loved birds, and Eastern Bluebirds were one of her favorites. She fed them, watched them, protected them, and even photographed them when she could.

During our frequent phone calls she’d tell me what her bluebirds were up to any time of the year. There were two bluebird nest boxes where she lived, and she could see them from her front stoop. She watched and fed the bluebirds year round.

I didn’t really have Eastern Bluebirds in my viewfinder until Mom was already in hospice care and didn’t feel up to accessing the internet to look at my photos of them.

By the time I moved far enough east to be in Eastern Bluebird country, Mom had already passed away.

I know that she’d love the photos I have taken of them since then and that she would also love that I get to see or hear them now on a daily basis.

Whenever I see, hear, or photograph Eastern Bluebirds now, Mom isn’t far from my mind. But then, she never is.

Missing her always.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Mia
